STX OSV SECURES CONTRACT FOR ONE OFFSHORE SUBSEA CONSTRUCTION VESSEL FOR SOLSTAD OFFSHORE

Singapore, 14 February, 2013 – STX OSV Holdings Limited (“STX OSV”), one of the major global designers and shipbuilders of offshore and specialized vessels, is pleased to announce that it has secured a new contract for the design and construction of one Offshore Subsea Construction Vessel (“OSCV”) for Solstad Offshore. The value of the contract is approximately NOK 600 million. The vessel will be of STX OSV’s OSCV 03 design, and will be equipped with a 250 ton crane and accommodation capacity for 100 persons. The overall length of the vessel will be approximately 121 meters, with a beam of 23 meters. Delivery is scheduled from STX OSV Aukra in Norway in 2Q 2014. The hull will be delivered from STX OSV Tulcea in Romania.

Solstad Offshore ASA is among the largest shipping companies in Norway, providing advanced vessels and extensive maritime competence for operations related to the offshore petroleum industry. The company has about 1,600 employees, and operates 50 vessels all over the world. Solstad Offshore is headquartered in Skudeneshavn, Norway and has branch offices in Brazil, Singapore, the United Kingdom and Australia.

Solstad Offshore orders a subsea vessel and signs longterm contract with Reach Subsea ASA Solstad Offshore ASA (SOFF) has entered into a new contract with STX OSV AS for building of a construction service vessel (CSV) of type OSCV 03. The vessel’s contract value is around NOK 600 million and she will be delivered during 2nd quarter 2014.

SOFF has signed a 5 year firm charter agreement for the vessel with Reach Subsea ASA, starting from delivery from the shipyard. In addition, the charterer has option to extend the contract with further 3 x 1 year. The value of the firm part of the contract is approximately NOK 650 mill.

Reach Subsea represents a new client for Solstad Offshore, and is an exciting addition to a growing subsea market. Although the company is young, the people and management team in Reach Subsea are well known to Solstad Offshore and to the subsea market.

The new vessel is 121 meters long, 23 meters wide and has a working deck of approximately 1.300 square meters. The vessel will be equipped with a subsea crane with 250 ton lifting capacity and a cabin capacity of 100 persons. The vessel is designed according to the latest environmental standards with focus on low fuel consumption, and precautions in accordance with the Det Norske Veritas’ (DNV’s) Clean Design requirements are incorporated in the design.

With this new investment, Solstad Offshore own and operates 21 subsea construction vessels, of which 2 are under construction. All are chartered to subsea contractors worldwide. In addition the Solstad fleet consist of 22 anchor handling vessels (AHTS) and 9 platform supply vessels (PSV).

Reach Subsea ASA has signed a long-term charter with Solstad Offshore ASA (SOFF) for a Construction Support Vessel (CSV) of design OSCV 03. The vessel will be built by STX OSV AS and is due for delivery 2nd quarter of 2014. The charter is for 5 years firm period with extension options for 3×1 years. The charter has been concluded on market terms.

The vessel has an overall length of 121 meters, 23 meters beam, 1300 square meters of deck, 7,2×7,2m working moonpool and a 250 ton subsea construction crane. The integrated ROV hangar features handling equipment for both over-side and moonpool launch; enabling ROV launch in high sea states. The vessel has accommodation for 100 people and is designed according to the latest environmental standards with focus on comfort and fuel consumption, and complies with DNV’s Clean Design notation.

Reach Subsea will integrate the most advanced ROV- and subsea technology available on the market in the vessel for efficient, safe and reliable offshore operations. Consistent selection of modern technological solutions both in the vessel and equipment will ensure a high level of safety and reliability even in challenging weather conditions. The specification of the vessel and integrated equipment, and choice of Vessel Owner, is in line with the Company’s strategy to maintain high quality throughout the supply chain.

The vessel will be operated from Reach Subsea’s offices in Haugesund and is a confirmation of the company’s plan to form a strong Norwegian subsea player with high end vessels, equipment and personnel.
